from $15.00

Sunday, May 25th
(11:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.)

Serena’s 3-hour Salsa On 2 workshop will be broken down into the following three courses that is ideal for students of all levels:

Ladies’ Styling (follow / female-presenting)
This class will break down all the elements of smooth styling and flawless, fluid following. You will practice arm extensions, body movement isolations, and foundational footwork to jump-start your styling and understand how it fits into the dance and music. We will incorporate musicality exercises and explore how styling can be the final missing piece in your dance repertoire.

Style / Technique Discovery (follows & leads)
The purpose of the class is to have fun while discovering what works for you, your body and how to design your unique expression in the dance. By the end of class you will have a toolbox of techniques to discover your own style. You’ll learn spinning foundations, basic formulas to create shines, and basic elements of styling (for leads and follows). We will look at body movement, arm extensions and the different permutations of sequences to design your dance. You’ll leave ready to create your own stylish shines on the dance floor.

Musicality Flow & Inspiration (w/ live percussion)
Find flow and inspiration in the music with your movement! You’ll learn to listen for patterns, hits, rhythms and instruments while developing the ability to dance with the music, instead of to the music. By the end of this course, you’ll leave with a greater understanding of the music and how to interpret it through dance. We’ll break down different techniques, strategies and movements to accentuate different instruments, sounds, and rhythms.
